“As a former journalist (or, rather, recovering journalist), I still retain some sleuthing chops, but I must admit that I have not been able to discover any salient details about Weekly Hubris’s resident single-panel cartoonist, Mark Addison Kershaw. I haunt (a term of art) his Facebook page for clues, though, and have recently inferred that he (or a furry right hand purporting to be his) is left-handed. (See video embedded below.) This explains a lot.”—Elizabeth Boleman-Herring

Mark Kershaw Weekly Hubris.

ATLANTA Georgia—(Weekly Hubris)—May 1, 2021—Editor’s Note: As a former journalist (or, rather, recovering journalist), I still retain some sleuthing chops, but I must admit that I have not been able to discover any salient details about Weekly Hubris’s resident single-panel cartoonist, Mark Addison Kershaw. I haunt (a term of art) his Facebook page for clues, and have recently inferred that he (or a furry right hand purporting to be his) is left-handed (see video embedded above). This explains a lot. However, never having met Kershaw, I am compelled to admit: 1) that that furry, videoed paw may not indeed belong to the cartoonist known as Addison; 2) that Addison may be a collective noun (covering any number of creatures great and small); and/or/even 3) that Addison may exist slightly outside, or inside (Schrödinger-cat-wise) “our” shared dimension of being. (Here, I would insert a Schrödinger smile, if I had one.)

Mark Addison Kershaw says his influences include James Thurber, Jean-Jacques Sempé, Charles Schultz, Berke Breathed, and several cartoonists from “The New Yorker.” Kershaw was born and brought up in Nebraska, spent college dabbling in philosophy and a few decades during/after in Minnesota, and now makes his home in Atlanta, Georgia, where he may be spotted walking his dog around the lake behind his home, taking photographs, and thinking cartoonish thoughts. I absolutely rely on Addison for my monthly fix for quirky videos from the ‘net. But even more, I count on seeing his one-panel comics every day if I can. Although I’m not sure “comics” is the right word . . . maybe “philosophical observations” is more fitting. Love these!

‘Philosophical observations’ about our humanness is my goal..hopefully with some thought provoking insight and a little silliness thrown in now and then to keep me from taking myself too seriously.
I appreciate the compliment Will. Thank you

He is a wonderful mystery. Such a very private person. I watch for his posts every day. There are no hints there though, as to who dwells beneath, none that can be truly grasped.
