“And you know, because you’ve been here before, in this killing field, that the fools and predators will find they, too, can be mowed down, that all their swagger and gorging was for nothing. You know that they, unlike the ones whom they consumed, are nothing. And you say nothing. Because there’s nothing to say.”—Helen Noakes

Point

So now you know how it feels, waiting for death.

Possible death.

The fear might be worse than the dying, you finally conclude.

The conclusion rising from the shift of time; time gliding from terror to exhaustion, gliding silently, imperceptibly, perniciously to steal away all hope.

And you see the fools who stride towards death, dragging the hapless with them.

You see the predators, stealing, betraying, sacrificing the lives of others to appease what?

Death?

Greed?

Satanic selfishness?

And you know, because you’ve been here before, in this killing field, that the fools and predators will find they, too, can be mowed down, that all their swagger and gorging was for nothing.

You know that they, unlike the ones whom they consumed, are nothing.

And you say nothing.

Because there’s nothing to say.

Counter Point

With nothing to say, you reside in silence.

In silence you finally hear the voice within, murmuring of strength, resilience, patience, directing you to your own center where time has another aspect.

There you find your truth.

The truth called Life.

Real.

Unfettered.

All-powerful.

And you know this power is tangible, not the pompous, strutting, stupidity of insane chaos-makers who live a lie.

You know this power propels the universe and its environs.

And you know you are that power.

You belong to it and with it.

And all that Is is within you, is you, is all and everything.

And in that reality of Being, you find that all and everything has a meaning which brings you peace and certainty.

And you sit in stillness, breathing.

As each soft breath sound fills you, you know that chaos will subside into order,

And a new world will be born.

Helen Noakes is a playwright, novelist, writer, art historian, linguist, and Traditional Reiki Master, who was brought up in and derives richness from several of the world’s great traditions and philosophies. She believes that writing should engage and entertain, but also inform and inspire. She also believes that because the human race expresses itself in words, it is words, in the end, that will show us how very similar we are and how foolish it is to think otherwise.
